Skiing
Our family has made ski trips a large part of our travels in the winter months. With Lake Tahoe about 3-4 hours away from our home in the San Francisco Bay Area, getting up to the slopes for a weekend getaway is doable, albeit with some occasionally-gnarly traffic and winter weather meltdowns en route.
Whether you have a ski resort in your back yard or have to fly a long way to travel to ski destinations, skiing and snowboarding with kids isn't for the faint of heart. Teaching young kids to ski can be overwhelming - the gear, the weather, the logistics. And of course, skiing has gotten increasingly expensive, giving a lot of families pause.
If you're up for the challenge, however, I can tell you from experience that we're glad we made the effort! And I have a lot of lessons learned to share here with you to help you get off on the right foot.
