When Virginia was just about 15 months old, we went for a day to visit a friend in Modesto, California to escape the San Francisco fog and enjoy some hot summer weather. We found out that the Stanislaus County Fair was in session, so we set out to see some animals and ride some carnival rides with Little V. While she loved the animals and rides, her favorite part of the visit was a trash can painted with cheetah-like spots. She just kept walking up to it and giving it a HUGE hug. This went on for probably about 15 minutes, as we could not get her away. I know a lot of the residents of California’s Central Valley thought that we were raising one really strange kid that day.
